Nay: James Holley, Elizabeth Dauberman
Agenda Item Details
Meeting: Jan 18, 2024 – Regular Board Meeting
Category: Committee Report – Education
Subject: Item for Ratification – Warrior Head Logo Type
Action:
To clarify any concern that the School Board did not comply with the Sunshine Act when it added the below agenda item at the time of its public meeting on December 7, 2023, by majority vote of the School Board without posting the agenda item at least 24 hours before that meeting, the School Board has posted this agenda item at least 24 hours before this meeting and hereby seek to take official action to ratify and confirm its official action previously taken on December 7, 2023, where the School Board approved the below listed agenda item. Although the proposed action to ratify and confirm its previous vote is being taken, the School Board believes that the addition of the agenda item at the time of its December 7, 2023 meeting, and the official action taken to approve them were in full compliance with the Sunshine Act.
The Board of Education to halt the retirement of the warrior head logo including any disruption or removal of the said “Warrior Head Logo” for the next 120 days, giving the Board appropriate time to take up the future direction SYCSD logo unless such action results in any expenditure of funds at which time the administration will notify the board immediately (incorporating amendments made to original motion).
The Board of Education to consider reinstatement of the ‘Warrior Head Logo’ in its original form to replace all current logos for all logo applications, including, but not limited to: sports teams, athletic activities, spirit wear, and academic needs.
