Logo Changes

The current school board of 2024 has proposed that the Native American logo that was retired 18 months ago should be brought back into use. Voting for this proposal happened on January 18, 2024. The school board voted to bring it back into use.

From December 7, 2023 Meeting Minutes: 

William Hall made a motion to amend the agenda to add an action item to the buildings and grounds report which reads: A motion to halt the retirement of the warrior head logo including any disruption or removal of the said “Warrior Head Logo” for the next 120 days, giving the Board appropriate time to take up the future direction of the SYCSD logo. (Reason: no further destruction of warrior head logo.)
 
**Motion by William Hall, second by Jennifer Henkel.
 
Nathan Henkel made a motion to amend the amendment to: A motion to halt the retirement of the warrior head logo including any disruption or removal of the said “Warrior Head Logo” for the next 120 days, giving the Board appropriate time to take up the future direction of the SYCSD logo, unless such action results in an expenditure of funds at which time the administration would notify the board immediately.

To clarify any concern that the School Board did not comply with the Sunshine Act when it added the below agenda item at the time of its public meeting on December 7, 2023, by majority vote of the School Board without posting the agenda item at least 24 hours before that meeting, the School Board has posted this agenda item at least 24 hours before this meeting and hereby seek to take official action to ratify and confirm its official action previously taken on December 7, 2023, where the School Board approved the below listed agenda item.  Although the proposed action to ratify and confirm its previous vote is being taken, the School Board believes that the addition of the agenda item at the time of its December 7, 2023 meeting, and the official action taken to approve them were in full compliance with the Sunshine Act.
